We read in Luke 3:21-22 that Jesus was baptized. To be a disciple of Christ, we must follow Jesus’ example to be ready to overcome that which opposes us and ultimately join Him in His ministry.
Whether you are a ‘new recruit’ as a follower of Jesus, or if you’ve been walking as His disciple for some time, it is important to continually be trained for battle as a believer.
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32. If knowing the truth makes us free, what are we freed from? We are free from a life of captivity to the effects of sin.
