Love Identity & Purpose, Part 2

The love of God, our Heavenly Father, is one of the most important things we can ever know in our minds and have established in our hearts.  It is knowing this love that keeps us grounded in truth when we face difficult times or circumstances.  Jesus said, “You will have tribulation, but in Me you have peace”, John 16:33.  Knowing God as a good Father establishes the place of peace in our hearts, regardless what is going on around us.

Today, we see so many things that can bring trouble to our hearts.  We see the potential destruction of a nation in the middle east, which has led to many Christians being persecuted, some of whom are reportedly martyred, because of their faith.  We see what seems to be widespread corruption in the American Government and we see prejudice on all sides of humanity.  These circumstantial things are uncomfortable, but they are temporary.  In spite of this, we know that God is good, and He is love and He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

Knowing God as a good Father establishes the place of peace in our hearts, regardless what is going on around us.

Romans 8:35-39 is a reminder that nothing shall separate us from this love.  “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”  Yet, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present or things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus”.

It doesn’t matter what is going on around us, we are more than conquerors through Christ.  It doesn’t matter what happened in the past, or what is going on currently, or what is to come, the Love of God remains true, and we know that Love Never Fails.  As we fully receive the Love of God, we can stand against the fear that tries to come to cause us walk in doubt.

If you feel far from God, or that He isn’t near to you, pray to ask Him to show Himself to you in a real and tangible way.  He is near and will never leave you or forsake you.
